Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered Brings the Cult Kaiju Brawler Back on Modern Hardware

Atari and original developer Pipeworks have relaunched Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam as of November 3, 2026. The digital release is priced at $29.99, with physical editions planned for PS5 and a $39.99 Switch 2 release, bringing the beloved 2002 kaiju brawler back for a new generation of monster fans.
A Cult Classic Returns, Rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5
The original Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee launched on GameCube in 2002 and quickly built a cult following for letting players smash entire cities as Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah, and a roster of other Toho kaiju. Atari Chief Creative Officer Mike Mika, who worked on the original release as the game’s publisher, said the studio partnered with Pipeworks to bring the game back “bigger, better and more destructive than ever.” Pipeworks CEO Lindsay Gupton added that the team “had the unique opportunity to revisit our work using more modern development tools.”
What's New in the Remaster
The remaster rebuilds the game in Unreal Engine 5, with visuals the team describes as remastered from the ground up and a long list of quality-of-life improvements. Unlocks for monsters, locations, and gallery items can now be earned in any order instead of a fixed progression, and the remaster adds online multiplayer for the first time while keeping the local co-op the original was known for. Each kaiju also gets its own additional single-player campaign, giving the roster more individual spotlight than the GameCube original had room for.
12 Kaiju, 8 Battlegrounds
Content-wise, the remaster keeps the original’s 12 playable kaiju and 8 destructible locations, each with day and night variations, spanning real-world-inspired cities, Monster Island, and the alien Mothership. The core appeal is unchanged: picking up buildings and other kaiju as weapons, triggering Rage Mode for devastating special attacks, and generally leveling entire city blocks in the process.
