Hollow Knight: Silksong's Free "Sea of Sorrow" Expansion Is Still Coming — Here's What We Know

Team Cherry has confirmed that Hollow Knight: Silksong is getting a free expansion called “Sea of Sorrow,” and while an exact release date still hasn’t landed, the studio has kept the game actively updated in the meantime — a good sign the DLC remains on track for later in 2026.
What We Know About Sea of Sorrow
Per Team Cherry’s own early details, Sea of Sorrow brings a nautical theme to Silksong’s world, with new environments, new enemies and bosses, new items, and further adventures for Hornet beyond the base campaign. It’s free for everyone who owns Silksong, consistent with how Team Cherry handled post-launch content for the original Hollow Knight.
The Patches Keep Coming
Ahead of the expansion, Team Cherry has continued refining the base game. Recent patches reworked Silk Soar for smoother traversal, tuned down the damage of the Last Judge’s death explosion, made the Magma Bell block all fire explosions, stopped Lavalugs from freezing in place, and fixed Quick Travel so it no longer strips Hunter’s Focus on use. A long list of smaller fixes has also targeted enemies and Hornet herself getting stuck or pulled out of the playable area, along with Wood Wasp collision issues that could leave hitboxes active too long or fail to reset after a respawn.
