A New Ocean to Explore

Once Human is heading out to sea. Developer Starry Studio confirmed that Isles of the Abyss, a new ocean-exploration expansion, will launch this October across PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation, and mobile simultaneously — keeping the free-to-play survival game’s cross-platform player base together for the update instead of staggering it by platform.

Sailboats, Diving, and a Sea Monster

The headline feature is full sailboat customization: players will be able to build and outfit their own vessels, arm them with cannons for ship-to-ship combat, and sail out to a set of uncharted islands that weren’t part of the base map. Below the surface, a new diving system adds underwater resource gathering, treasure chests, and hostile sea creatures, including what the developers have teased as “a massive monster or two” that will require a coordinated fight rather than a quick skirmish. New weapons and clothing tied to the update round out the patch, according to Insider Gaming’s hands-on preview. Starry Studio hasn’t locked in an exact release date or detailed every system yet, so expect more specifics as October gets closer.

Getting Ready for the Update

Once Human is free-to-play, but its cosmetic and battle-pass economy runs on premium currency, so if you’re planning to gear up your sailboat the moment Isles of the Abyss lands, a Steam Wallet code from Dragon4Deals is the fastest way to fund your account on PC. Console players can do the same with a Xbox gift card or a PlayStation Network card, both delivered instantly. You can read more on Once Human’s official Steam store page.
