Creative Assembly is calling it the largest DLC ever released for the series, a claim that lines up with just how much new content is packed into this expansion. Four New Legendary Lords, Dozens of New Units
Lords of the End Times introduces four brand-new playable Legendary Lords. Boris Todbringer, the Elector Count of Middenland, leads the Empire with a gunline-and-steel approach. Grey Seer Thanquol brings Clan Scruff and the Skaven’s chaotic, economy-driven warfare to the front. The Glottkin – three Nurgle-tainted brothers fused into a single, lumbering horror – anchors a new Chaos army built around attrition and rot. And Nagash, the Supreme Lord of the Undead, arrives as the definitive Undead Legions Legendary Lord, wielding some of the most powerful magic in the setting.
Beyond the four headline Lords, the DLC adds 8 new Legendary Heroes, 23 new Battle Units, and 12 Regiments of Renown. New unit types include Verminlord assassins skulking through the Skaven roster and Celestial Hurricanum artillery reinforcing the Empire’s ranged options.
A Free Update for Every Owner, No Purchase Required
Crucially, not everything in this update is paid. Alongside the DLC, Creative Assembly is shipping a free simultaneous update available to all owners of Total War: WARHAMMER III, DLC purchase not required. The centerpiece is Neferata, described as “the first vampire ever sired,” who joins as a free Legendary Lord for the Vampire Counts. She arrives with what Creative Assembly calls a significant rework for the Vampire Counts faction, intended to revitalise the dark lords of Sylvania.
The free update also delivers a full campaign overhaul for Archaon, plus three new endgame crisis events for Immortal Empires: Chaos Invasion, Vermintide, and Nagash Rises. Players restocking their game libraries can find Steam Wallet codes to help fund the new content.
Immortal Empires Now Open to Everyone
One of the more significant structural changes is access. Buying any edition of Lords of the End Times grants immediate access to the Immortal Empires campaign map, even for players who never owned Total War: WARHAMMER I or II – a requirement that previously locked newer players out of the game’s flagship campaign. Combined with the free Neferata update and the sheer volume of paid content, September 24 looks set to be one of the busiest launch days the series has had.
