Ubisoft has rolled out version 1.0.8 for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, calling it the remake’s “final major content update.” The patch arrived October 27, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, closing out post-launch support with a batch of difficulty, progression, and quality-of-life additions pulled straight from community requests.

Nightmare Difficulty Raises the Stakes

The headline addition is Nightmare, the hardest difficulty setting the game has offered. Enemies now deal 1.8x their normal damage, parries are noticeably harder to land, and the safety net that kept a full-health Edward Kenway from dying to a single hit has been removed entirely — a stray musket ball or boarding axe can now end a run outright. Stealth sections lean harder in the enemy’s favor too: guards are quicker to spot Edward, ships hit harder in naval combat, and the sea itself turns hostile, with sharks and jellyfish dealing more damage than on lower difficulties.

New Game Plus Carries Your Progress Forward

Alongside Nightmare, update 1.0.8 introduces New Game Plus. Players can replay the main campaign from the start while keeping gear and items earned on their first run, and the world’s overall difficulty ratchets up with every subsequent playthrough. New Game Plus is also the only way to unlock a fresh batch of cosmetics — outfits, pet skins, and trinkets that weren’t available anywhere else. Ubisoft also quietly restored a handful of takedown animations from the 2013 original that didn’t make it into the remake, including the hidden blade, unarmed, single sword, and gunblade takedowns, plus a set of newly added “community chests” that are deliberately harder to find and hold rewards the community specifically asked for.

Bug Fixes and What's Next

The patch closes out with a standard round of bug fixes, and Ubisoft has been explicit that no further major content is planned after this release — Black Flag Resynced’s post-launch roadmap officially ends here. For anyone picking the remake up now that it’s feature-complete, the game is available on Steam alongside console storefronts. Stocking up on a Steam Wallet Code is the easiest way to grab it — or the next Assassin’s Creed release, since Assassin’s Creed Shadows is discounted right now too — without reaching for a credit card, and console players can do the same with a balance top-up for Xbox.
