Crimson Desert’s First Paid DLC, Charting the Unknown, Sails In October 29 With Shipbuilding and a New Region
Pearl Abyss has set a new release date of October 29 for Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown, the open-world action RPG’s first paid expansion. The DLC unlocks worldwide at 10 PM UTC that day, the morning of October 30 in Asia and Oceania, after Pearl Abyss delayed it two weeks from its original October 15 date for extra polish.
What's Inside Charting the Unknown
The $24.99 expansion adds new story chapters for Kliff, Damiane, and Oongka, built around a new region: the Great Ocean of Pywel, explorable both above and below the waterline. Shipbuilding lets players gather resources to build and customize their own vessel and set up strongholds alongside the Greymanes faction, while underwater exploration opens up sunken ruins, treasure, and new resources to gather. On the systems side, the DLC adds romance and marriage mechanics tied to earning specific characters’ trust, expanded housing that lets players decorate liberated castles, and business management that lets players lease facilities and choose what goods to sell. A Boss Gauntlet chains together fights against some of Pywel’s toughest bosses for players who want a straight combat challenge.
Platforms and the Delay
Charting the Unknown launches on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and the Epic Games Store; Pearl Abyss says the Mac version won’t be available on the Mac App Store at launch. The two-week delay was explained as needing more time to deliver a more polished and stable experience, a tacit acknowledgment of Crimson Desert’s rocky post-launch patch history.
Gear Up for Pywel
If you haven’t started Crimson Desert yet, or want a similar open-world RPG to hold you over until the 29th, Dune: Awakening PC is in stock and scratches a similar survival-meets-exploration itch. A Steam Wallet Code (Global) covers the DLC’s $24.99 price tag on Steam, and the full RPG category at Dragon4Deals has plenty more to explore.
