Metro 2033 Redux and Metro Last Light Redux Get Free Next-Gen Updates With 4K Textures and DLSS Support
Deep Silver has released free next-gen updates for Metro 2033 Redux and Metro Last Light Redux, bringing 4A Games’ decade-old remasters in line with 2026 hardware. The PC versions went live today, October 23, with console updates following on October 29.

What's New in the Next-Gen Update
The update adds unlimited frame rates depending on hardware, 4K textures, and a trio of upscaling options: 4A TSR for any GPU, DLSS for Nvidia cards, and FSR for AMD. Screen Space Global Illumination, denser geometry and texture detail, improved PBR materials, and sharper animation and sound round out the visual overhaul. Spatial audio support and adaptive triggers for DualSense, plus impulse triggers on Xbox controllers, bring the decade-old shooters’ presentation closer to a modern release. A handful of players have also spotted a toggle and DLL file suggesting Nvidia’s new DLSS 5 neural rendering tech is quietly included, though Deep Silver hasn’t confirmed that in official patch notes.

Release Timing, Platforms, and Upgrade Notes
The PC update covers Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, and Microsoft Store, and it’s free for existing owners on the first three storefronts. Microsoft Store owners will need to start a new game, since saves won’t carry over, though chapter select unlocks automatically. Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and Xbox Ally owners get the update on October 29, with a power-optimized mode built for Xbox’s handheld. Deep Silver also fixed a long-standing bug that mismatched horizontal and vertical mouse sensitivity.
Catch Up on the Metro Series Before the Update
If the next-gen glow-up has you craving more of the Moscow Metro, Metro Awakening VR PC and its Deluxe Edition bring the series’ survival-horror atmosphere into virtual reality, and both are in stock now. Pair either with a Steam Wallet Code (Global) to stock up on Steam credit for the update or anything else on your wishlist.
