RuneScape: Dragonwilds Hits 1.0 on September 15, Landing on Xbox for the First Time in 25 Years

Jagex’s survival spin-off RuneScape: Dragonwilds leaves Early Access and launches into full 1.0 on September 15, 2026, on PC and consoles. The release is a milestone for the franchise: it marks the first time any RuneScape game has been available on an Xbox console in 25 years. You can wishlist or buy it now on the official RuneScape: Dragonwilds Steam page.

A Survival Game Built on Gielinor's Bones

Dragonwilds reimagines RuneScape’s world as an open-world survival game: players gather, craft, build bases, and fight through a version of Gielinor shaped by classic RuneScape lore, but with base-building and crafting systems built for the survival genre rather than the tab-target MMO systems the franchise is known for. The 1.0 update is being framed by Jagex as the game’s full launch rather than a content patch, closing out its Early Access period.

Crossplay and Console Debut

Alongside the version bump, Dragonwilds is launching simultaneously on Xbox for the first time in the RuneScape franchise’s history, with full crossplay support connecting Xbox players with the existing PC player base from day one. For a franchise that has spent a quarter-century as a PC and mobile mainstay, a console debut on this scale is a genuine first, and one that could bring an entirely new audience to Gielinor.
