Monster Hunter Wilds Is Coming to Switch 2 This December With Full Crossplay
Capcom confirmed at the September 2026 Nintendo Direct that Monster Hunter Wilds is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on December 4, 2026, bringing the open-world hunting game to a Nintendo console for the first time since it launched on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S earlier this year. You can already play it on the official Monster Hunter Wilds Steam page.
A Technical Balancing Act
Early impressions of the Switch 2 build describe “surprisingly stable performance” alongside noticeably lower-resolution visuals compared to the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions — a trade-off that was largely expected given the hardware gap, but one Capcom appears to have managed without sacrificing playability. The port ships alongside full cross-platform play, so Switch 2 hunters will be able to team up with friends on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox from day one.
Local Co-Op Makes a Comeback
One detail aimed squarely at longtime fans: the Switch 2 version adds offline local ad-hoc multiplayer for two players, a feature reminiscent of the Monster Hunter 3DS era that lets friends hunt together without an internet connection — and keeps the game playable even after online services eventually shut down years from now. The Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance expansion is also confirmed for a 2027 release across every platform, including Switch 2, the same day as PC and consoles.
