Valheim Hits 1.0 After 5 Years in Early Access — Deep North Biome Now Live
Five Years Later, Valheim Is Officially 1.0
Developer Iron Gate AB and publisher Coffee Stain Publishing released Valheim 1.0 on September 9, 2026, roughly five and a half years after the Viking survival-crafting game entered Early Access on February 2, 2021. The 1.0 launch caps one of Steam’s longest-running Early Access success stories.

The Deep North Biome and Full Crossplay
The headline addition is the Deep North, a cold and hostile endgame biome stocked with new creatures including the gammeltroll, elakingar, and barka, plus underground areas hiding ancient discoveries. Version 1.0 also adds full crossplay across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Linux, and Mac, alongside official mod support and a full achievements list — all firsts for the game outside Early Access.
Price Increase and Where to Buy
The 1.0 launch also brought Valheim’s first price change in over five years, rising from $19.99 to $29.99, after a 50%-off sale dropped it to its lowest price ever right up through release.
