Valor Mortis, the first-person soulslike from One More Level — the studio behind Ghostrunner — launches October 13, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam, published by Lyrical Games. The release caps a run of delays that pushed the game from its original September 2026 window.

A Plague-Ravaged Napoleonic Europe

You play William, a soldier of Napoleon's Grande Armée who is revived in a 19th-century Europe ravaged by a corrupting plague. That same plague now runs in William's veins, granting supernatural power at a cost. The story blends real Napoleonic-era history with body horror and the occult, as William investigates the plague's source while fighting through the ranks of Napoleon's twisted Eternal Guard.

Parries, Pistols, and Transmutations

Combat is built around a cutlass for melee strings, parries, and dodges, plus a flintlock pistol that staggers enemies by hitting weak points — though ammo is limited, so it has to be used with intent. Progression unlocks transmutations, supernatural powers like fire attacks that layer onto your normal combos. Catalysts earned in combat raise your stats, but die before banking them at a lantern checkpoint and they're gone — classic soulslike stakes layered onto 19th-century horror.

Price and Day-One Game Pass

Valor Mortis launches at €39.99 and is available day one on Xbox Game Pass, alongside a full retail release on Steam. Check out the official Steam store page for system requirements and the latest trailers.
