Planet Zoo 2 Launches October 13, Adding Aquariums, Aviaries, and a Bigger Conservation Focus

Planet Zoo 2, Frontier Developments' sequel to its hit zoo management sim, launches October 13, 2026 on PC via Steam, priced at $49.99 for the base game ($64.99 for the Deluxe Edition).
Aquariums and Aviaries for the First Time
The sequel's headline addition is habitat types the original never had: fully aquatic species — sharks, turtles, and fish — housed in dedicated aquariums, plus flying birds in customizable aviaries. Frontier is also pushing conservation further with Wildlife Reserves, where completing real-world-styled conservation projects lets you release animals from your zoo back into protected reserve space.
Career, Franchise Multiplayer, and the Frontier Workshop
Planet Zoo 2 ships with three modes: Career, which folds your zoo into the in-universe Frontier Ecological Network (FEN); Franchise, which adds multiplayer animal trading between players' zoos; and a free-form Sandbox. New and returning scenery themes can be built with blueprints or placed piece-by-piece, and the Frontier Workshop brings in player-made content from day one.
Steam Page and Upgrading From the Original
Planet Zoo 2 is a standalone purchase rather than an expansion, so owning the original Planet Zoo isn't required. Full details, system requirements, and trailers are on the official Steam store page.
