Battlefield 6‘s next big content drop, nicknamed "Top Gun Incoming," was announced August 6 and launches August 18. It leans hard into naval and air combat — new jets, a returning fan-favorite map, and a genuinely new game mode built around aircraft carriers.

Wake Island Returns, Carrier Warfare Included

Wake Island is back with an enhanced naval-warfare focus and a carrier-based headquarters, and Fort Lyndon gets a new point of interest — the USS Grant, a crashed carrier with higher-value loot for Battle Royale drops. The headline new mode, Carrier Strike, has teams capturing sectors and coordinating pilot strikes to sink the enemy carrier, while Fighter Sweep is a new REDSEC Gauntlet mission built around dogfights and objective destruction.

New Hardware and Gunplay Tuning

The update adds the Interdictor sniper rifle plus two new two-seat jets, the F/A-81F Super Spectre and F-74A Seacat. On the ground side, expect an ADS dispersion crosshair that visualizes how sustained fire and movement affect your accuracy, an Airplane Control Assist option for players still learning the jet controls, and a broader gunplay pass focused on balancing time-to-death and buffing underperforming weapons.

Also Coming: Custom Lobbies and a Portal Editor Upgrade

DICE is also rolling out a Portal Advanced Editor Program for select creators, adding baked lighting and terrain editing, alongside Custom Lobbies and Spectator Mode launching through Battlefield Labs. Between the new mode, new map, and new jets, this is shaping up to be Battlefield 6’s biggest content update since launch.
