A Full Reveal, and a Release Date
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 had its full reveal during Tokyo Game Show week, and Activision confirmed a firm October 23, 2026 launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2 — the first mainline Call of Duty to skip the previous console generation entirely. Infinity Ward is leading development, with Beenox handling the PC build and Digital Legends supporting the Switch 2 version.
Two Campaigns, One War
The campaign splits into two interconnected stories: a young South Korean soldier named Private Park experiences his first combat as North Korea launches a full-scale invasion, fighting through trench warfare in Korea, close-quarters combat in New York, chases through Paris, and SAS night raids in Mumbai. Running alongside that is Captain Price’s arc, working outside the system he once served on a revenge-driven mission tied to a dangerous weapon, with consequences that ripple out into the wider geopolitical plot.
Multiplayer and DMZ Changes
Multiplayer gets a new unified combat system called Ballistic Authority, which removes bullet bloom for more consistent weapon precision, alongside an expanded movement system with mantling, climbing, and hanging. Launch includes 12 core maps plus Kill Block, a dynamically reconfiguring training facility, a reworked Create-a-Class system with shared attachments and a new “Gunny” assistance tool, and dual Prestige paths. DMZ mode returns as well, billed as the series’ most complete extraction experience yet, with dynamic objectives and squad-based risk-reward extraction decisions.
