DayZ’s Badlands Expansion and Update 1.30 Add Motorbikes and the Massive Nasdara Desert Map

Bohemia Interactive dropped the biggest expansion in DayZ‘s history today, October 15, 2026. The paid Badlands expansion and the free Update 1.30 both went live simultaneously on PC and Xbox, and between them they add a new map, two vehicles, and a long list of survival mechanics.
Nasdara: The Biggest Map DayZ Has Built
Badlands centers on Nasdara Province, a 267 km² arid desert region that Bohemia calls the largest and most ambitious terrain it has ever built for DayZ. More than 5,000 ruined mud-and-stone houses are scattered across it, all of which can be rebuilt or barricaded using a new trowel for brick-and-mortar repairs. Water is scarce and heat keeps hydration low, pushing players toward lighter clothing, and the new wildlife roster includes mouflon, desert monitor lizards, and territorial Doberman and German Shepherd dogs that guard areas like military zones. Scattered Morse code radio signals lead to underground shelters, built on a new terrain-hole system Bohemia says will eventually reach other maps and mods. The expansion is priced at roughly $24.99 with regional pricing.
Free for Everyone: Motorbikes and More
Update 1.30 is free and applies across every map, not just Nasdara. The headline addition is two rideable motorbikes: a moped that tops out around 70 km/h and a faster enduro bike that can hit roughly 130 km/h, both single-rider and both capable of knocking the driver off in a crash. The update also redraws more than 150 inventory icons into one consistent style, reworks how infected choose their attacks based on a player’s head height, and adds an official code lock that uses a 9V battery and locks out after repeated wrong PINs.
Gearing Up
Server owners running Chernarus, Livonia, or Sakhal need to update on day one regardless of whether they want Badlands, since servers typically require matching builds to accept connections. For players just looking to jump in, a Steam gift card covers the PC version and the new DLC, while Xbox players can top up through our Xbox gift card selection.
