Diablo IV Season 15 'Hell's Legacy' Adds a Rebirth System and Nine Permanent Uniques
Diablo IV’s fifteenth season, subtitled Hell’s Legacy, has been live since September 15, 2026, and Blizzard has spent the past week and a half smoothing it out with a run of hotfixes on top of the underlying 3.2.1 patch (the most recent landing September 22). It is one of the bigger seasonal overhauls in a while, built around letting players wield the power of the game’s three classic villains.

The Prime Evil Splinter System, Waking Nightmares, and Soul Splinters
The season’s headline feature is the Prime Evil Splinter System. Players first defeat all three classic Prime Evils — Diablo, Baal, and Mephisto — and then commit to one of their powers for the season. Each track reshapes specific pieces of endgame content and grants periodic “Iconic Power” eruptions of fire, cold, or physical damage, at the cost of extra vulnerability to that particular evil. Every track comes with eight activity modifiers and six power upgrades to chase.
Alongside that sits Waking Nightmares, a set of three-tiered throwback dungeons that recreate moments from Diablo’s history, ranging from full multi-level Capstone-style encounters down to quick single-room open-world boss fights. New Soul Splinters — eight demonic gems that slot into jewelry, up to three at once — add another layer of build customization and can be upgraded through the Horadric Cube.
Rebirth System and Class Balance Changes
The most player-friendly addition might be the new Rebirth System, which lets you convert an existing Eternal character into a Seasonal one, resetting it to level 1 while keeping its class, name, appearance, and Hardcore status intact (you do need to clear your inventory and equipped gear first). Blizzard also added Shared War Plans, so reputation now carries across alts within the same Eternal/Seasonal and Hardcore/Normal partitions, plus an improved Mythic crafting flow that preserves all affixes when upgrading an item through the Horadric Cube.
On the balance side, Barbarian took a substantial hit this patch — its core stat scalar dropped from 1.1 to 0.8 and Rallying Cry’s damage was cut in half — while Druid got a significant buff, with its core stat scalar rising from 1.25 to 1.625 and signature weapon damage nearly doubling. Nine previously limited-time Unique items, including Stone of Jordan and Leoric’s Crown, are also now permanent additions to the loot pool.
