Diablo 4 Season 12, Season of Slaughter, has shaken up the class rankings more than any update in recent memory — largely because the Lord of Hatred expansion’s new Paladin class has walked straight into the best speed-farming slot in the game. The seasonal theme itself pushes horde-clearing content, which is part of why fast, wide-hitting builds are outperforming slower single-target setups across the board this time around. Here’s the full tier list of S-tier builds for every class, plus what makes each one work.

Paladin: The Best Speed Farmer in the Game Right Now

Paladin dominates Season 12 as the overall best speed-farming option, and Spear of the Heavens is the headline build: it clears Pit tiers and Nightmare Dungeons fast enough that most other classes simply can’t keep pace on time-per-kill. Blessed Shield and the various Arbiter variants round out the class’s top tier, giving Paladin players options whether they’re pushing solo Pit depth or clearing hordes for Season Journey progress. If you’re new to the class, Spear of the Heavens is also the easiest of the three to gear, since it doesn’t lean as hard on a specific Mythic Unique to function.

Barbarian and Sorcerer S-Tier Builds

Barbarian’s S-tier is built around sustained single-target damage: Basic Cleave, Hammer of the Ancients (HotA), and Mighty Throw all excel at both endgame content and boss farming, making Barbarian one of the safer picks if you want a build that performs everywhere rather than one specific activity.

Sorcerer remains one of the best classes for leveling this season, and that carries into the endgame too — Hydra, Crackling Energy, and Ball Lightning all maintain solid viability through sustained damage output, so a Sorcerer you leveled with one of these skills doesn’t need a full build swap once you hit endgame content.

Druid, Necromancer, and Rogue S-Tier Builds

Druid offers excellent versatility across speed farming and endgame progression through Pulverize, Shred, and Wolf Companion, with reliable damage scaling that doesn’t fall off a cliff at higher Pit tiers.

Necromancer’s top builds — Gravebloom Golem Summoner, Shadow Blight, and Blood Wave — lean on summon synergies and direct damage for strong results in both endgame pushes and boss farming.

Rogue is the class to pick if speed is your priority: Death Trap, Dance of Knives, and Flurry all excel at fast clears and quick movement, and all three stay viable into the endgame rather than being purely a leveling tool.

Spiritborn Rounds Out the Top Tier

Spiritborn is still a strong pick in Season 12, even with Paladin stealing the spotlight — Infinite Evade and Crushing Hand builds give the class reliable top-tier options for players who’d rather stick with a class they already know than relearn Paladin’s kit from scratch. Both builds scale well off existing Vessel of Hatred gear, so returning Spiritborn players don’t need to regear from zero to stay competitive this season.

Which Build Should You Actually Start With?

If you’re starting fresh this season, lean on how much setup time you want before you feel strong. Sorcerer’s Ball Lightning and Rogue’s Flurry both feel good from the early levels onward, so they’re the least frustrating choices if you’re not planning to rush to endgame on day one. If you’re chasing the fastest possible Pit pushes and don’t mind a steeper gearing curve, Paladin’s Spear of the Heavens is worth the detour even if you’ve never played the class before — it’s simply the strongest speed-farming build in the game this season.
