Dota 2 Hero Tier List (Patch 7.41e, September 2026): Best Heroes by Position

Patch 7.41e has settled into a clear identity: pub matches at 7,000–8,500 MMR are rewarding carries who can survive laning pressure and start contributing to fights before six items, and supports who can make plays without needing an expensive item spike first. Below is a full breakdown of the current S-tier heroes by position, plus the item and skill builds behind the two standout performers of the patch. For the full patch changelog, see Valve’s official 7.41 patch notes.

S-Tier by Position

Position 1 (Carry): Spectre, Lifestealer, Phantom Lancer, Faceless Void, Necrophos, Juggernaut.
Position 2 (Mid): Keeper of the Light, Snapfire, Invoker, Earth Spirit, Marci, Visage.
Position 3 (Offlane): Night Stalker, Enigma, Pudge, Visage, Axe, Winter Wyvern.
Position 4 (Soft Support): Bounty Hunter, Nyx Assassin, Zeus, Undying, Spirit Breaker, Clockwerk.
Position 5 (Hard Support): Treant Protector, Undying, Winter Wyvern, Lich, Oracle, Bane.

Why Spectre Leads Position 1

Spectre currently holds roughly a 53% win rate across more than 7,000 recent Position 1 matches, and the reason is durability: Spectral Dagger keeps her safe in lane, and Haunt at level 6 lets her participate in fights well before she’s a full carry. Her win rate actually climbs the longer the game goes — 48.8% in games under 35 minutes versus 56.8% in games past 50 minutes — which tells you she wants you to survive to the late game, not force an early one.

Core build: Tango + Healing Salve, Quelling Blade, and Stout Shield to start, into Radiance, Manta Style, Black King Bar, and Butterfly as the four core items. From there, itemize situationally: Satanic or Heart of Tarrasque for durability, Abyssal Blade for lockdown, Linken’s Sphere against single-target disables, or Monkey King Bar if the enemy team stacks evasion.

Mid and Offlane: Control Over Raw Damage

The Position 2 and 3 S-tiers both skew toward heroes that control space rather than just deal damage. Keeper of the Light and Invoker dominate mid by out-ranging and out-scaling most matchups, while Earth Spirit and Marci punish overextensions with pickoff potential. Offlane is where Night Stalker and Enigma stand out — both scale into fights that end games outright, with Night Stalker’s night-time power spikes and Enigma’s Black Hole still among the strongest single abilities in the game when landed on more than one hero.

Bounty Hunter Leads a Support Meta Built on Information

Bounty Hunter is the clearest Position 4 pick of the patch, sitting around a 56.7% overall win rate and closer to 57% specifically played as a soft support. His entire kit is built to tax the enemy team’s gold lead through Track and Jinada, which fits the patch’s broader theme of supports who generate value through information and gold denial rather than raw item timings.

Starting items: Boots of Speed, Observer Ward, Sentry Ward, and Blood Grenade, prioritizing early map control. Early game: Tranquil Boots for sustain during rotations, then Magic Wand. Core: Eul’s Scepter of Divinity for catch, self-preservation, and purge utility, followed by a situational pickup — Blink Dagger to initiate, Lotus Orb to dispel, Force Staff for positioning, or a Gem of True Sight once your team is ahead. Skill order: Shadow Walk at level 1, Jinada at level 2, then max Shuriken Toss, taking Track at level 6 the moment it unlocks his economic snowball.
