Fallout 76 Patch 70 “The Slasher” Brings a Halloween Event, Legacy Seasons, and Native PS5/Xbox Series X Support
A Spooky, Souped-Up Update for Appalachia
Bethesda Game Studios released Fallout 76 Patch 70, nicknamed The Slasher, on September 15, 2026, and it is one of the more substantial updates the post-apocalyptic RPG has gotten in some time. Alongside a horror-themed weekly event running across Appalachia, the patch finally delivers native Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 versions of the game, plus a new system for revisiting old seasonal content without giving up progress on the current season.
The Slasher Event and Native PS5/Xbox Series X Support
The headline addition is the Slasher Event, a weekly horror storyline where Vault Dwellers tune into a Breaking News Pip-Boy broadcast, run into cultists in clown masks, and face down the returning Pint-Sized Slasher. It is a fitting lead-in to Season 26, Beware The Blood Moon, the games new spooky-themed seasonal pass. Fishing fans get a reason to log back in on September 22, when catchable Fall seasonal fish arrive with their own recipes.
On the technical side, Patch 70 finally brings proper current-gen console versions to Fallout 76, targeting 60 FPS with steadier performance and 4K support on compatible hardware. Downloads have grown accordingly: expect roughly 119 GB on PC via Steam, 101 GB on Xbox, and 92.2 GB on PlayStation.
Legacy Seasons and a Unique Item Crafting Overhaul
The new Legacy Seasons feature lets players jump into past seasonal content alongside whatever is currently active, starting with Armor Ace and the Power Patrol in Cold Steel. Season 10: Red Rocket Across America is scheduled to join the rotation this winter. Unique weapon and armor crafting also got a meaningful overhaul: more than 60 unique items can now have their legendary mods swapped and gain a fourth legendary mod slot, opening up fresh build combinations for veteran players.
