Helldivers 2’s Devoid of Liberty Update Hits 7.2.2 as a New Poisonous Terminid Strain Spreads Across the Galaxy
Arrowhead Game Studios has kept Helldivers 2’s Devoid of Liberty season moving at a steady clip through late October and into November, with the update now sitting at version 7.2.2 on Steam. The patch cadence has been small and iterative rather than one giant drop, but the galactic war itself just took a nastier turn: Arrowhead confirmed on November 3 that a new, venomous Terminid strain is spreading, and bug caves are now spawning across the galactic map rather than staying confined to a handful of fronts.
Patch 7.2.x: A Quiet But Steady Balance Pass
The Devoid of Liberty cycle has rolled out in small, dated steps: 7.2.0 landed on October 20 alongside the Scope of Authority Warbond and a round of weapon adjustments, 7.2.1 followed on October 22 as a hotfix for a crash that hit squads when a player joined or left a session mid-drop, and 7.2.2 arrived on October 29 with a focused buff to the AMW-20 APEX, whose demolition strength Arrowhead said had fallen noticeably behind the Anti-Materiel Rifle and the Autocannon.
A New Threat: the Noxious Terminid Strain
The bigger story for Helldivers heading into mid-November is the enemy side of the equation. Arrowhead’s November 3 update describes a fast-moving, venomous Terminid variant now active in the field, alongside a change to how bug caves spawn — instead of clustering on a small number of planets, they are now appearing across the galaxy, which effectively spreads the Terminid threat thinner but wider. Expect squads to start running into the new strain’s poison attacks on fronts that previously felt relatively safe from Terminid pressure.
Where to Follow the Next Patch
Helldivers 2 remains one of the more consistently updated live-service shooters on Steam, and Arrowhead has leaned on frequent small patches rather than infrequent mega-updates this season. You can track the game’s current build, Steam charts position, and full patch history on its official Steam store page.
