Minecraft Dungeons II Is Out Now, and the Sift Dimension Is Coming to Minecraft Itself
Mojang and Double Eleven’s Minecraft Dungeons II launched September 29, 2026 on Xbox, PC, and PlayStation, and initial reviews are landing solidly positive — Kotaku called it “an excellent step forward” for the cozy action-RPG formula, even as some players reported early login issues on launch day. The bigger story, though, is what the sequel means for Minecraft as a whole.

The Sift Is Minecraft's First New Dimension in Over a Decade
Minecraft Dungeons II introduces a brand-new dimension called The Sift, and Mojang confirmed at Minecraft Live in September that it’s coming to the base game’s Java and Bedrock editions in 2027 — the first entirely new dimension added to main-line Minecraft since the Aether-inspired End updates over a decade ago. For a game this old to still be adding core, world-altering content is a big deal for the millions of players who never touched the spin-off series.
What's Actually in the Sequel
Beyond The Sift, Dungeons II expands the combat systems from the original 2020 game and supports solo play alongside four-player co-op across platforms, continuing the series’ pitch of approachable, loot-driven dungeon crawling built on the Minecraft aesthetic. It’s a notably different pace from Minecraft’s other 2026 release window neighbors — Transport Fever 3 and Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered both launched the same week — but Dungeons II has the advantage of tying directly back into the mainline game’s roadmap.
Picking It Up on Xbox or PC
Minecraft Dungeons II is on Steam for PC players, and it’s also included with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on both Xbox and PC. If you want to jump in without buying it outright, Dragon4Deals carries Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (US) codes, along with the wider Xbox gift card lineup for console players and Steam Wallet codes if you’d rather buy it straight on PC.
