Overwatch Season 5 Tier List: Torbjörn, D.Mon, and the Best Heroes Right Now
Overwatch’s Season 5 meta (updated October 10) has crystallized around a small handful of heroes that win games almost on their own. This tier list breaks down every S-, A-, and B-tier pick by role, plus who to avoid entirely, so you can climb without wasting queue time on underperforming heroes.

S-Tier: Build Around These Heroes

On tanks, D.Mon, Winston, and Junker Queen are all S-tier right now, which means almost every high-rank lobby is built around one of the three. On damage, Torbjörn stands alone at the top — his turret and mobility upgrades from recent balance passes have made him a legitimate pick-and-win hero rather than a niche choice, able to zone entire chokepoints by himself while still contributing solid burst damage at range. No support hero currently sits in S-tier, which keeps the healer meta more open than the tank and damage roles and leaves room for personal preference between a handful of strong A-tier picks.
Tank Picks: Three-Way Dominance at the Top

D.Mon is the newest addition to the tank roster, added back in August, and has quickly become a top pick for her disruptive beast-form transformation, which lets her punish overextended enemies and peel for her backline almost instantly. Winston remains a dive staple thanks to his bubble shield and mobility, letting him absorb burst damage from abilities like Soldier: 76’s Helix Rockets or Venture’s Burrow, while Junker Queen continues to punish grouped-up enemies with her axe throw and sustained bleed damage. Just behind them, Wrecking Ball and Reinhardt sit in A-tier as strong secondary options for brawl-heavy comps, while Orisa remains stuck in F-tier and isn’t worth picking in the current patch no matter the matchup.
Damage and Support Standouts

Behind Torbjörn, the damage A-tier is crowded with Vendetta, Junkrat, Pharah, and Symmetra — all viable depending on the map and enemy comp, with Pharah in particular punishing teams that lack reliable hitscan to track her in the air. On support, no hero has cracked S-tier this patch, but Mizuki, Zenyatta, Lúcio, and Juno headline A-tier and should be your default picks, with Lúcio’s speed boost remaining the single best tool for enabling the dive comps built around Winston and D.Mon. Avoid Kiriko and Sojourn for now — both sit in F-tier after recent balance changes gutted their mobility and burst potential.
Best Comps and Where to Buy
For a well-rounded ranked comp, pair an S-tier tank like D.Mon or Junker Queen with Torbjörn on damage and an A-tier support like Lúcio for the speed boost to enable aggressive pushes into chokepoints. This meta has shifted noticeably since Overwatch dropped the “2” from its name back in February and rolled out ten new heroes alongside a story-driven seasonal format, so don’t assume older guides from before that relaunch still apply.
