Rust’s October 2026 Wipe Adds Livestock Farming, a Biofuel Generator, and Power Plant Loot Rooms
Rust’s monthly forced wipe is landing with its biggest addition in a while: real, raisable livestock. Following Facepunch’s usual first-Thursday cadence, the October update also brings a new power-generation chain and a meaningful loot refresh to several monuments.
Livestock Farming Arrives
Cows and sheep are now fully domesticable animals. Players can find them in the world or buy young animals from vendors stationed at Ranches and Large Barns, then raise, transport, and eventually breed them. Livestock produces milk, wool, meat, and leather, and the update adds milk, skimmed milk, and cream as new cooking and brewing ingredients. Combine them with teas for Milky versions (more calories, hydration, and longer base duration) or Creamy versions (stronger effects, shorter duration). New food items round out the loop, including Beef and Mutton meat plus Shepherd’s Pie, Beef Pie, and cream-enhanced Rich Pies.
Power Plant Loot and the Biofuel Generator
Heavy Fuse loot rooms are being added to several monuments, including the Launch Site, Missile Silo, and Water Treatment Plant. Heavy fuse decay now scales with server population, lasting roughly four times longer on servers with ten or fewer players, which should make solo and small-group runs more forgiving. The new Biofuel Generator converts agricultural materials and animal byproducts into Low Grade Fuel, giving farms an actual use beyond cooking. A new vendor bartering mechanic and a set of decorative animals — frogs, rabbits, squirrels, sea turtles, crabs, and jellyfish — round out the atmosphere changes, alongside 11 new achievements and stackable, revamped sandbags.
Other Changes Worth Knowing
A few balance tweaks come along for the ride: Oil Rig’s crude pumping now takes 15 minutes to start producing, horses drop considerably less dung, and the Air Wolf vendor at Bandit Camp will not sell air vehicles until its helipad is repaired. Water Wheel melee protection is roughly 4-5x stronger, and client-side optimizations — including not loading store assets by default — should shave about 250MB off the game’s boot size. A new Plague Hazmat Suit skin and skinnable ladder hatches are also part of the patch.
