Rust's October Wipe Adds Livestock Farming, Letting Players Raise Cows and Sheep for the First Time
Facepunch Studios shipped Rust’s October monthly update, and with it a forced wipe, on the first Thursday of the month as usual. The headline addition is livestock farming: players can now raise domesticated cows and sheep, found wild or bought as young animals from vendors at Ranches and Large Barns.
Milk, Wool, and a New Power Source
Livestock provides milk, skimmed milk, cream, wool, beef, and mutton. Milk and cream can be blended into teas: milky teas add calories and hydration and last longer, while creamy teas boost a tea’s base effect but shorten its duration. New food recipes include Shepherd’s Pie, Beef Pie, and Rich Pies, which use cream for stronger effects. A new Biofuel Generator converts agricultural materials and animal byproducts into Low Grade Fuel, giving farms an entirely new power source.
Loot Rooms, Bartering, and New Achievements
Beyond farming, the update adds Power Plant Heavy Fuse bonus loot rooms at several monuments, including the Launch Site, Missile Silo, and Water Treatment Plant, plus a new vendor bartering mechanic, decorative wildlife, a refreshed sandbag deployable, and 11 new achievements.
Balance Changes and Performance
Balance changes round out the patch: heavy fuse decay now scales with server population (fuses last four times longer on servers with 10 or fewer players), Oil Rig crude pumping takes 15 minutes to start producing, and the Bandit Camp’s Air Wolf vendor won’t sell air vehicles until its helipad is repaired. The Water Wheel’s melee protection is roughly four to five times higher, horses drop much less dung, and remote-controlled turrets can now hit reactive targets. Facepunch also shipped client performance and memory improvements, including reduced boot-time asset loading.
Where to Grab Rust and DLC
Rust is available on Steam, and a Steam Wallet Code (US), Steam Wallet Code (EU), or Steam Wallet Code (Global) from Dragon4Deals covers the new DLC bundles Facepunch tends to release alongside wipes like this one.
