Sea of Thieves Season 21’s Custom Seas and Bilge Rats Weekender Fill Reaper Fortresses With Mega Stashes
Rare’s Season 21 update (v3.9.0) has been live on Sea of Thieves since September 17, 2026, and its headline feature, Custom Seas, is still giving crews new ways to shape their own sessions. The season also delivered the Bilge Rats Weekender, a limited event that packed Reaper Fortresses with Mega Stashes for a few extra-lucrative nights. You can check the current build on the official Sea of Thieves Steam store page.
Custom Seas Puts Crews in the Director's Chair
Custom Seas is a toolkit for session owners to reshape how a voyage plays out. Crews can now save and load up to 30 item “Layouts” per location, set a Time Speed (Stopped, Slow, Normal, or Fast), edit a player or crew’s Silver with a dedicated command, and spawn extra treasure, including a new Adventures category and Firework Crates. A Map Table switch can make ship markers anonymous or identified, and new toggles control whether players can regain health or whether specific ship parts can flood or catch fire — useful for everything from screenshots to custom tournaments.
New Cosmetics, the Weekender, and Season Rewards
Alongside the tools, Season 21 shipped a run of new cosmetics: the Fisherman’s Fable ship set from shipwrights, the Courteous Knave clothing set at the Pirate Legend Hideout, Cast Iron weapons at Outposts, and the Fallen Sea Dog item set earned through the “Conqueror of the Damned” Commendation at Reaper’s Bones. Pirate Legends can also pick up the Bleakheart Groom and Banshee sets, plus five Wolf pets, from the Pirate Emporium. The Bilge Rats Weekender ran October 16 through 19 and flooded Reaper Fortresses with Mega Stashes, while the season’s 50 new Renown levels keep handing out rewards like the Fate’s Light Lantern, and the Premium Tier adds the Mutiny’s Mark Ship Collection.
