The Sims 4’s October 27 Update Adds Elder Content, Muscle and Weight Toggles, and a Food Overhaul
EA and Maxis rolled out a free update for The Sims 4 on October 27, 2026, and it is one of the bigger content drops of the year: a new Elder-themed wardrobe and build set, long-requested body representation controls, and a near-total rework of how Sims shop, cook, and eat. The update landed simultaneously on PC, Mac, PlayStation, and Xbox.
New Elder Content for Create a Sim and Build/Buy
The headline free content is aimed squarely at Elder Sims: a new set of Elder-appropriate Create a Sim hairstyles and clothing, matching Build/Buy items, and a fully furnished Styled Room players can drop straight into a lot. Maxis also added four Elder Styled Looks and four new Elder Sims to the in-game Gallery, giving players ready-made templates rather than a from-scratch build.
Muscle and Weight Controls Arrive as Toggles
The update adds new game-level options and per-Sim self-interactions that let players turn muscle and weight changes on or off entirely. It is an opt-in system: Sims whose players disable the feature simply will not gain or lose muscle or weight over time. The toggle does not extend to pets, so Cats & Dogs and Horse Ranch animals are unaffected.
A Near-Total Rework of Food and Dining
The biggest systemic change is to food. The “Open” interaction now sits at the front of the fridge pie menu, food prices and calorie values were rebalanced across the board, and hungry Sims now prefer eating leftovers before cooking something new. Family Recipes also got a huge expansion, with more than 375 dishes added, and bakers get a new “Quickly Decorate” shortcut for finishing baked goods without the full decorating interaction.
Quality of Life Changes and Bug Fixes
Smaller changes round out the patch: televisions can now be locked to specific Sims, self-interactions are grouped under a single “Sim Options…” menu, and save backup tracking was improved. On the fix side, Maxis logged more than 150 bug fixes, including over 25 for Dine Out and 14 new crash and stability fixes. As with any major Sims 4 update, some mods and custom content may break until their creators push updated versions.
