Total War: Warhammer III Legendary Lords Tier List: Nagash and Neferata Join the S-Tier Conversation
Immortal Empires’ legendary lord rankings had settled into a stable pecking order by early September 2026, and the September 24 launch of Lords of the End Times just added five new names to the conversation: Nagash, Boris Todbringer, Grey Seer Thanquol, The Glottkin, and the free Legendary Lord Neferata. Here’s how the established meta stacks up, and where the new arrivals fit.
S-Tier: The Established Best
Thorgrim Grudgebearer (Dwarfs) leads the pack with the best defensive infantry and artillery combination in the game, a forgiving economy, and army compositions that punish mistakes from less careful opponents. Kairos Fateweaver (Tzeentch) trivializes campaign-map logistics with teleporting armies and some of the highest magic output of any lord. Skarbrand (Khorne) rounds out the tier by simply not needing an economy: his armies snowball through raiding alone, making him the pick for players who want to skip the spreadsheet management entirely.
A-Tier: Strong, Slightly More Demanding
Karl Franz (Empire), Tyrion (High Elves), the existing Vampire Counts lords, and Katarin (Kislev) all sit in A-tier: strong campaigns that ask a little more map awareness or economic management than the S-tier picks, but reward it with versatile roster options and strong late-game army compositions.
B-Tier and C-Tier
Greenskins, Bretonnia, Nurgle, and Ogre Kingdoms occupy B-tier, viable and fun but generally requiring a defter hand to keep pace with the top factions. Beastmen and Norsca sit in C-tier, hampered by weaker economies and thinner late-game rosters compared to the rest of the field.
Where the Lords of the End Times Additions Fit
Nagash arrives with an economy and magic-focused Undead legendary lord kit that early impressions place close to S-tier territory, in line with his tabletop reputation as the single most powerful spellcaster in the setting. Neferata, the free Legendary Lord, lands alongside a full Vampire Counts overhaul, likely pushing the faction’s existing A-tier ranking up a notch once the new mechanics settle. Grey Seer Thanquol gives Skaven, historically one of the strongest economy-and-raiding factions, another flexible legendary lord option, while Boris Todbringer adds late-game army-composition depth to the already-strong Empire roster. The Glottkin slots into Chaos as a durable, melee-focused option in a faction whose top-end power has always hinged on aggressive raiding.
