Dota 2 Hero Tier List: The Best Picks in Patch 7.41e After the Facet Removal

Patch 7.41 reshaped Dota 2 more than a typical balance pass: Valve removed the Facets system entirely, pulling that power back into every hero’s base kit. Heroes with strong, simple base kits came out of it looking a lot better, and the current win-rate picture in patch 7.41e reflects that clearly. Here’s who to prioritize, who to avoid, and who to watch as the meta keeps settling.

S-Tier: First-Pick or Ban Material

The clearest first-pick-or-ban tier right now is Abaddon, Wraith King, Io, Spectre, Chaos Knight, Keeper of the Light, Leshrac, Muerta, Centaur Warrunner, Ogre Magi, Visage, and Mirana. Abaddon and Wraith King are both sitting in the high 50s for win rate, and Io isn’t far behind, which is unusual for a hero that demands as much map awareness as Io does. If you only ban two heroes all draft, make them two of these.

Best Pick by Role Right Now

Looking at the best pick by role instead of by raw tier paints an even sharper picture. Meepo is the single highest win-rate carry in the data by a wide margin, well clear of anything in the S-tier list above, which tells you a lot about how punishing good micro still is in this meta. Wraith King and Invoker are the two strongest mid picks, Io is the best-performing offlaner, Bounty Hunter is the go-to position four in coordinated drafts, and Treant Protector and Undying remain the safest hard support picks for climbing without much risk.

The Draft's Most Dangerous Combo

If there’s one combination drafters should be building around or drafting against, it’s Invoker paired with a Faceless Void carrying Chronosphere. The two together are considered the most dominant duo in the current meta: lock an enemy team inside Chronosphere and Invoker’s Sun Strike, Deafening Blast, and Alacrity can end a fight before it’s had a chance to start.

Heroes to Avoid Right Now (D-Tier)

On the other end, Chen, Kez, Nature’s Prophet, Beastmaster, Gyrocopter, Bane, Death Prophet, Tiny, Batrider, and Shadow Demon are all struggling in the 43 to 45 percent win-rate range right now. None of them are unplayable, but none of them are a safe default pick either while the post-Facet meta is still shaking out.

Risers and Fallers to Watch

Worth tracking going into the next patch: Visage, Centaur Warrunner, and Lina have all been climbing in win rate recently, while Shadow Demon and Doom have both been sliding. If that trend holds, expect Visage and Centaur Warrunner to get even harder to pry out of the draft, and don’t be surprised if Doom drops out of S-tier conversations entirely before the next balance patch.

How to actually use this list in a live draft: treat the S-tier names as your default bans against a strong enemy drafter, not just your default picks, since a hero like Abaddon or Io does damage to your draft whether you pick it or face it. If you’re climbing solo rather than queuing with a stack, leaning on the best-pick-by-role table is usually more useful than memorizing the full S-tier, since it tells you what to default to in your own lane rather than what the overall meta rewards. And because Facets no longer exist, don’t bother looking up old Facet-specific guides for any of these heroes; their talent trees and base abilities are the whole story now, which is exactly why heroes with simple, strong kits like Abaddon and Wraith King jumped so far up the list.

Grinding out MMR is a lot less painful with a Steam Wallet Code (US) or Steam Wallet Code (TW) from Dragon4Deals ready to go for your next Battle Pass or Steam top-up. For deeper patch history and hero data, Liquipedia’s Dota 2 portal is the most reliable place to keep tabs on what changes next.
