Remedy Entertainment’s follow-up to 2019’s Control arrives September 24, 2026, and it is a much stranger sequel than a straight follow-up would suggest. CONTROL Resonant launches simultaneously on Steam, Epic Games Store, GeForce NOW, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, with a physical release following on October 15.
A New Faden Behind the Wheel
Instead of returning as Jesse Faden, players take control of Dylan, Jesse’s brother and, according to Remedy, "one of the most powerful paranormally gifted people the Bureau has ever seen." He operates as an anti-hero working uneasily alongside the Federal Bureau of Control, while Jesse herself steps back into a new role as "the mysterious Director operating outside normal protocol" — a dynamic that puts the two siblings on opposite sides of the Bureau’s chain of command for most of the story.
Gunplay Is Out, Shape-Shifting Melee Is In
The biggest departure is combat. Where the original Control was a third-person shooter with telekinetic powers layered on top, Resonant is Remedy’s first full hack-and-slash action game. Dylan wields a weapon called the Aberrant that transforms between multiple forms — sword, whip, hammer, and others unlocked through the story and skill tree — with different forms working better against different enemy types. Previews have highlighted a boss fight against "The Collective," a sprawling mass of distorted flesh fought inside a gravity anomaly where combat plays out across walls and ceilings, and the campaign is expected to run around 30 hours. Extensive Assist Mode options, including a full immortality toggle, are built in for players who want the story without the difficulty.
Where to Get It
You can wishlist or pre-purchase CONTROL Resonant now on its official Steam store page. If you’re buying on PC, a Steam Wallet Code (US) covers it directly, and console players can do the same with a PSN Gift Card (US) or an Xbox Live Gift Card (US) — both also available in other regional denominations if you’re not buying from a US storefront.
