Black Ops 7’s Season 6 update, The Haunting, landed October 6 with four new weapons and enough balance changes to reshuffle the multiplayer meta. We pulled together the current tier list so you’re not guessing which guns are worth unlocking and leveling first, based on how the community and top players are rating performance since the patch.

S-Tier: Build Around These First

Eight weapons define the current competitive landscape: M15 Mod 0, Dravec 45, Peacekeeper MK1, Akita, Shadow SK, AK-27, Ryden 45K, and M10 Breacher.

  • M15 Mod 0 — the best all-around assault rifle right now, with precise recoil control and lethal medium-range damage. Run it with a long barrel and a grip that tightens vertical recoil, and it out-duels almost anything else at range.
  • Dravec 45 — the SMG to beat in close quarters, thanks to high mobility and a fast time-to-kill. Prioritize attachments that boost hip-fire accuracy and sprint-to-fire speed.
  • Shadow SK — a one-shot sniper that holds long sightlines better than anything else in its class, making it the pick on open maps.
  • Peacekeeper MK1, Akita, AK-27, Ryden 45K, and M10 Breacher round out S-tier. Each is dominant enough in its own lane, whether that’s hip-fire SMG duels or long-range beam downs, that they’re safe default picks in public matches or ranked lobbies this season.

A-Tier: Highly Competitive, a Little More Finesse Required

A-tier is deep this season: MXR-17, DS20 Mirage, Razor 9mm, X9 Maverick, VS Recon, M8A1, MPC-25, RK-9, Echo 12, MK.78, Warden 308, and XM325. The Warden 308 marksman rifle is the standout of the group for mid-map holding, rewarding players who can land follow-up shots quickly, while the MXR-17 is a strong secondary AR pick for squads who want a backup to the M15 Mod 0. None of these guns are bad picks; they just demand slightly better recoil control or positioning than the S-tier options to perform at the same level.

B-Tier and C-Tier: Situational or Skip

XR-3 Ion and A.R.C M1 sit in B-tier. Both suit specialist playstyles built around angle control rather than general-purpose use, so they’re worth a look only if your loadout already covers close and long range elsewhere.

Carbon 57, M34 Novaline, and AAROW 109 make up C-tier. All three suffer from weak damage output and inconsistent handling in their class, and are best avoided until a future balance pass brings them back in line.

As a general rule this season: run-and-gun players should prioritize SMGs like the Dravec 45, while anyone holding mid-to-long sightlines should lean on an assault or marksman rifle such as the M15 Mod 0 or Warden 308.

Why Season 6 Shifted the Meta

The Haunting didn’t just add a Halloween-flavored zombies mode and a Doom Slayer crossover event; it quietly rebalanced several weapon classes at the same time, which is why guns that were middling two weeks ago, like the Shadow SK, are suddenly must-use picks. If you’re coming back to Black Ops 7 specifically for the seasonal content, don’t assume your pre-Season 6 loadouts still hold up in ranked or core multiplayer; test your go-to gun in a private match first.

For attachments, the broad pattern this season rewards control over raw stats: a barrel or muzzle that tightens recoil, a grip that speeds up aim-down-sight time, and either extended magazines or faster reload depending on whether you play objective modes or straight team deathmatch. That holds whether you’re running an S-tier assault rifle or experimenting further down the list.

Expect another balance pass before the season ends, since Treyarch has shipped mid-season weapon tuning in every Black Ops 7 season so far. Bookmark this list and check back if a patch note mentions any of the guns above by name.
